OUR HISTORY
-
1942: West Indian Mission Board of the United Lutheran Church purchases home.

Home of the Mission Director, Reverend William Arbaugh, Lutheran Church in the Caribbean and Latin America.

People traveling through Puerto Rico, to and from other Caribbean Islands and Latin America, stay at Arbaugh's home.

1947: Small religious book store set up in the house.

1959: Grace Lutheran Church is organized.

1961: Property is given to Grace Lutheran Church for the development of a congregation.

1970: Offices of the Caribbean Synod work in the building.

1980: Lion's Club of Greater San Juan open their offices on the first floor.

1987: A 12-Step Program begins meeting in the building

1989: Hostel Program begins for people from other Caribbean Islands visiting Puerto Rico for medical care.

1997: After School Program is developed.

2001: Building Committee is organized to develop ideas for JB Grace Building.

2003: JB Grace Corporation earns non-profit status in Puerto Rico.

2020: Relocated to the Chapel del Buen Pastor (address) from Calle del Parque location

Located in the Barrio Obrero community of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Grace English Evangelical Lutheran Congregation Inc. is a small and welcoming Christian community dedicated to serving the San Juan area with love and faith. Our commitment is to engage hearts, uplift spirits, and encourage all individuals to embark on a journey rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ.
